Classical Georgian wood gesso surround

Reference: APS409 - A Classical antique Wood Gesso Fire Surround. Georgian surrounds often incorporated gesso (a type of plaster) to add to the intricacy of the pine wood carving. The shelf is under-carved with a central plaque of foliate garland, flanked by bellflower swags with a flower paterae on the end blocks above tapering decorated legs. Original antique patina untouched.
